Region Ten

Region Ten provides a wide array of substance use treatment to meet individual preferences and needs, as well as recommended levels of care.  This continuum of care includes outpatient treatment (group and individual), case management, care coordination, intensive outpatient program, co-occurring treatment, peer support, and residential levels of care. These services are provided throughout Region Ten’s sites and locations in the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson and the City of Charlottesville.

Univeristy of Virginia Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) Services

UVa’s OBOT program serves individuals (at least age 18) with opioid use disorders by providing medication-assisted treatment on an outpatient basis to help reduce opioid use, opioid overdose deaths, and transmission of infectious diseases.  To help people recover from opioid use disorders, the OBOT program offers a holistic person-centered approach by providing prescription medications (Suboxone, buprenorphine, naltrexone, or Vivitrol) in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies. 

Spero Health

Spero Health provides outpatient addiction medicine for addiction to opioids like fentanyl, heroin, and oxycodone, and stimulants like methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as for alcohol.  Their evidence-based approach incorporates medication-assisted treatment (MAT), along with individual counseling, group therapy, social service support, recovery support, peer support services and work on co-occurring disorders.  

Addiction Recovery Systems (ARS Pantops Clinic)

ARS offers medication assisted treatment by way of methadone or suboxone to aid individuals seeking recovery from opiate addiction. Individual and group counseling are offered in conjunction with individualized care from a treatment team inclusive of addiction counseling professionals, nurses, and physicians. ARS accepts Medicaid and Anthem and Aetna private insurance plans, and a self-pay program rate of $14 daily for uninsured individuals.

Crossroads of Charlottesville

Crossroads specializes in medication-assisted treatment, and we are dedicated to providing the most accessible, convenient, comprehensive, and high-quality care available. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and many commercial insurance plans at most of our centers. 

Addiction Allies

Addiction Allies is a comprehensive addiction medicine and substance use treatment center offering Intensive Outpatient Programfor all substance use disorders and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) using buprnorphine (Suboxone and Sublocade) and naltrexone (Vivitrol). They accept most Virginia Medicaid plans and private insurance.  Call 434-400-9668.

Orchard Mountain Recovery

Orchard Mountain Recovery (OMR) Intensive Outpatient program for Alcohol and Drug Addiction treatment meets during the evening so that community members can take care of work, family, or other responsibilities while you recover. This program is in-network for most insurance providers, making it a readily accessible addiction treatment option. 

Health Connect America

Health Connect America provides integrated treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health issues. Services are provided multiple times per week and are designed to prevent higher levels of care, help sustain long-term sobriety, mental health and support clients remaining in their permanent homes and environment. These services are delivered through outpatient program (OP) as well as our intensive outpatient program (IOP), and are provided through individual family and group modalities.

Peer Recovery Services

SMART Recovery at On Our Own

SMART Recovery stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training.  SMART is a mutual support model that is free and open to anyone seeking science-based, self-empowered addiction recovery.  Meetings are welcoming for those receiving medication assisted treatment (MAT) and are offered locally and virtually through On Our Own.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

AA offers free support groups for substance use disorder for men and women who struggle with a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, and apolitical.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

NA offers free support groups for men and women for whom drugs have become a major problem. NA is concerned with the disease of addiction and recovery from that disease; the drug (or drugs) of choice is unimportant.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recover is a Christian, 12 Step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, hang-ups, and habits of any kind.  There are Celebrate Recovery groups located at Cherry Avenue in Charlottesville and New Life Community Church in Louisa.

Virginia Al-Anon

Al-Anon offers free support groups for relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems.

Nar-Anon

Nar-Anon offers free support groups for those who know or have known a feeling of desperation concerning the addiction problem of a loved one.

Families Anonymous

Families Anonymous (FA) is a 12-step fellowship for the family and friends of individuals with drug, alcohol, or related behavioral issues. They have resources as well as phone and local, in-person support groups.

Georgia’s Friends

Georgia’s Friends provides programs and services in the Charlottesville-Albemarle community to help women suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and co-occurring mental health challenges. Georgia’s House (previously Georgia’s Healing House), the signature initiative, provides hope and healing through a safe, therapeutic, and structured home for women in recovery. Oxford House

Oxford House offers a democratically run, self-supporting and drug free home for people in recovery from addiction. Housing costs, including utilities, are shared equally by residents.

Harm Reduction Services

Blue Ridge Health District

BRHD provides free Naloxone (Narcan) and Fentanyl Test Strips throughout our district either through our monthly drive-thru/pick-up events or by appointment. They also offer free Rapid Revive, Lay Rescuer and Training-the-Trainer classes to businesses, organizations and agencies in the district.

Region Ten

Region Ten offer free virtual REVIVE  classes the second Wednesday of every month from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM to help friends, family members, and other responders to learn to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Free Narcan can be picked up at any Region Ten office after completing the training.  Region Ten also provides free Rapid REVIVE training in the community.  Email revive@regionten.org or call (434) 962–5027 for more information and to register for a training.

Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad CARES

CARS CARES has certified peer recovery support individuals and EMTs who are available to provide 1:1 or group education about the signs and symptoms of opioid overdose, overdose reversal training, and free narcan distribution as well as treatment referral resources to community members at no cost. CARES can also deliver medication disposal bags for unused medications, lock bags/boxes to secure medications and other prevention supplies. Charlottesville Area Harm Reduction

Charlottesville Harm Reduction provides mobile harm reduction services, including Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and clean works, no questions asked.  Call their hotline at 434-218-0228 for delivery.
