Harm Reduction Services

Harm reduction services in the community provide free opioid overdose education and overdose prevention materials including Narcan and fentanyl test strips.

  • Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD)

    BRHD provides free Naloxone (Narcan) and Fentanyl Test Strips throughout our district either through our monthly drive-thru/pick-up events or by appointment. They also offer free Rapid Revive, Lay Rescuer, and Training-the-Trainer classes to businesses, organizations, and agencies in the district.

  • Region Ten

    Region Ten offers free virtual REVIVE classes the second Wednesday of every month from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM to help friends, family members, and other responders to learn to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Free Narcan can be picked up at any Region Ten office after completing the training. Region Ten also provides free Rapid REVIVE training in the community.   • Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad (CARS)

    CARS CARES has certified peer recovery support individuals and EMTs who are available to provide 1:1 or group education about the signs and symptoms of opioid overdose, overdose reversal training, and free Narcan distribution as well as treatment referral resources to community members at no cost. CARES can also deliver medication disposal bags for unused medications, and lock bags/boxes to secure medications and other prevention supplies.   • Cville Harm Reduction

    Cville Harm Reduction provides mobile harm reduction services, including Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and clean works, no questions asked. Call their hotline at 434-218-0228 for delivery.
