Counseling & Community Services

There are accessible and affirming counseling services available in the community to support the mental health and developmental needs of youth and their families.

  • Region Ten Chilldren & Family Services

    Region Ten evaluates and treats mental health and/or substance use disorders in children and adolescents ages 5 to 18 with mental health and/or substance use disorders. They offer a full range of services across the behavioral health spectrum including prevention, family wellness, case management, outpatient counseling, and crisis/emergency services. Region Ten also provides school-based counseling services at Charlottesville High School, Buford Middle School, Albemarle HS, Western Albemarle HS, Monticello HS, Burley MS, and Community Lab Schools.

  • Infant and Toddler Connection of the Blue Ridge (ITCBR)

    A child is eligible for early intervention at ITCBR if he or she is developing differently or more slowly than other children or has a health condition that will affect development. The Infant & Toddler Connection of the Blue Ridge will walk you through the eligibility process.

  • Child Health Partnership (CHP)

    Child Health Partnership provides at-home support to children and parents to promote the health and well-being of families. Child Health partners with families in three primary areas: 1) Promoting health and wellness education, assessments, and improved access to care, 2) Encouraging positive parent-child interactions, child development, and school readiness, and 3) Supporting family self-sufficiency through employment and connections to community resources. Our free and voluntary program serves pregnant women and families with children under age 7 living in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Louisa, and Fluvanna. Call 434-964-4700.

  • ReadyKids

    ReadyKids offers free counseling for children and teens, including trauma therapy. Ready Kids also offers weekly support groups for transgender and non-binary youth. Additional family support includes home visiting, Real Dads support group, and early learning opportunities. They also offer a 24-hour teen crisis hotline at 434-972-SAFE.

  • Counseling Alliance of Virginia (CAVA)

    The Counseling Alliance of Virginia (CAVA) offers racially aware and sensitive therapeutic services for individual, family, couples, and group counseling. CAVA accepts all primary health insurance, Medicaid, and private pay.

  • Riverband Integrated Trauma

    RITT is an outpatient therapy program that offers a wide range of current and creative therapeutic interventions. Treatment is tailored to address complex issues and help each child/person/family access their own unique and ever-present resources for healing. RITT is staffed with 6 highly skilled senior therapists, each with over 25 years of trauma treatment experience, and RITT Fellows.

  • Health Connect America

    Health Connect America provides treatment for children and families. Their goal is to support the preservation of families, adults, and children at risk, and develop long-term stability and improved lives.
